Conservation notes

After being hunted to near extinction, saltwater crocodile populations in Australia have recovered well after being protected in the late 1970s. Commercial farming occurs for skin and meat.

Elsewhere (e.g., Sri Lanka), populations of this species are in danger of extinction.
