Pronunciation  KRIP-toe-BLEFF-ah-russ  
Etymology  Cryptoblepharus: 'hidden eyelid', referring to the fused eyelids.
cygnatus: from the Latin cygnus, meaning 'swan'; and natus meaning 'a son'; in reference to Stephen Swanson, herpetological author and photographer. Alludes to the Wells and Wellington (1985) nomen nudum 'swansoni'.
