Etymology:

Taxonomic notes:

In a 2008 publication, many species were moved from Egernia to Bellatorias, Liopholis and Lissolepis.1

 Notes: Body shape is generally dorsoventrally compressed (except in largest two species). Dorsal scales in 24-46 rows. Postnarial groove running to first supralabial. Incomplete subocular scale row. Colour of eyelid is similar to that of the adjacent scales.2
