Niveoscincus palfreymani - (Rawlinson, 1974)
Pronunciation  NIV-ee-oh-SKINK-uss   PAWL-free-man-ee
Etymology  Niveoscincus: "From the latin nivea, snow, and neo-Latin scincus, a skink, alluding to the cold climates inhabited by these skinks. Genus masculine."1
palfreymani: after a Mr. Palfreyman, the first person recorded to have landed on Pedra Branca.

Range

Found only on Pedra Branca Rock, a 2.5ha chunk of rock about 26km south of Tasmania.

Found in the following Australian states/territories

Tasmania

Habitat

Lives on an exposed sandstone island. Virtually no soil, but at least one species of plant ekes out an existence by taking root in crevices.2
